Do you struggle with knowing what to put into that little Instagram Bio section that doesn’t allow you nearly enough room to write #allthethings?
Trust me, we all feel the same struggle but there are a few really key pieces of information that need to be located in your bio so future viewers immediately know if they should hit that follow button!
When you’re limited to the amount of characters you can have, we want to make sure that we are maximizing the results and not wasting even a few characters on less than important information!
This is where I am going to tell you some heartbreaking news…
If your Instagram bio talks more about your dogs more than what you do, who you serve, and inviting visitors to your website – then your bio space is being wasted!
( I know, I love my dogs just as much as you do but they can’t sell my offers very well )
So, what three things should your Instagram bio hit on?
- What you do (your niche)
- Who you help ( a short pitch about your services )
- CTA ( call to action )
What three things should you avoid if your account is for your business?
- Speaking too much about yourself
- Keep the fun facts for Friday Introduction Posts
- Make sure you give a clear call to action
Here is an Example of a Bio that I see often with Wedding Photographers –
“ Wedding Photographer 📸 Traveler 🌴 Based in Tampa, FL
Bright and Airy Photos 💛
Target + Coffee Lover 🐶Dog Mom 💑Wife
Contact Me ”
Here is what I recommend instead –
“Wedding Photos for couples who want images filled with joyful colors and candid moments 📸
Dog mom who travels to capture love stories 🐶
2021 Dates are going fast, contact me! 👇”
See how much more straightforward that second option was for letting viewers know what you do and how you serve people + the next action step they need to take? Remember your Bio is meant to give the overview of your business and that is what we need to make sure we focus on!
People can quickly learn by scrolling your feed that you are based in Tampa, love a good trip to Target, that you are married, or even that you have a dog! So, let them learn those things throughout your feed and use your Bio to give clear and simple answers as to what you do, who you serve, and what action you want them to take!
