Six-Figure Secrets Guide

19 secrets all of my successful clients know that scale their business to 6 figures and beyond!

Business lessons for photographers are essential for building a thriving and sustainable career. Building a business isn’t just about milestones and wins; instead, it’s about the lessons learned along the way. In fact, the journey is full of them! While it’s been one of the hardest things I’ve done, it has also been the most rewarding. I’ve made mistakes, taken some hard hits, and celebrated wins that made every hurdle worth it.

Why Learning Business Lessons is Essential for Photographers

Today, I’m sharing 30 business lessons that have shaped not only my business but also the person I am. Additionally, these insights have helped me navigate challenges and find success. As a result, I’ve grown both personally and professionally.

30 Business Lessons to Propel Your Success

  1. Consistent messy action is the only way to overcome perfectionism and see results.
  2. Don’t chase clients; build something they can’t look away from.
  3. Setting boundaries benefits both you and your clients.
  4. Stop putting off celebrating yourself when you have wins. Every win matters, big or small.
  5. Additionally, saying ‘no’ creates more space for ‘yes.
  6. When things aren’t clicking, it’s because clarity is lacking.
  7. It’s okay to pivot multiple times. In other words, it’s called growth.
  8. Fail fast and hard. As a result, you’ll reach your wins faster.
  9. Relationships over transactions, always.
  10. Pricing for what your time and offer are worth isn’t greedy; it’s necessary for your creativity.
  11. Your email list is a safety net. Therefore, you should nurture it and keep it active.
  12. Repeat clients can bring just as much revenue as new clients. Don’t overlook them.
  13. For example, your past clients are walking billboards for your business.
  14. Who gives a crap what others think? After all, they aren’t paying your bills.
  15. Your energy is your biggest asset. Therefore, protect it.
  16. Systems and programs save you time and brain power; they won’t make your business feel impersonal.
  17. Furthermore, never stop learning, and don’t learn in the same bubble.
  18. Value attracts value. If you want someone to value you, you have to value the space you create.
  19. Selling is serving. If you sell correctly, you’re serving your clients by giving them what they need and want.
  20. Branding is a long-term game. Your brand is always evolving. Don’t rush the process; let it naturally evolve.
  21. Remember, a small following can still be powerful.
  22. The best marketing tip: meet your clients where they are right now, and don’t water down who you are.
  23. Because of this, money-making tasks should be your daily priority.
  24. If your mindset is shaky, you can’t expect clients to come pouring in the door.
  25. For instance, the best opportunities are the ones you create yourself.
  26. The people you surround yourself with can elevate you or drag you down.
  27. Having a niche doesn’t restrict you; it clarifies your value.
  28. Your goals need a reason attached to them. Saying you want six figures without a clear why won’t give you the motivation to do the work.
  29. If you don’t follow up multiple times, you’re leaving money on the table.
  30. Investing in yourself is never a gamble. You are the best investment you can make.

What’s Your Next Step?

Building a business isn’t about being perfect; rather, it’s about showing up, learning, and growing along the way. Because of this, every challenge is an opportunity for growth. For example, learning from past mistakes allows you to refine your strategy and move forward more effectively. So, which of these lessons resonates most with you right now? Take a moment to reflect, and use it to motivate yourself to push forward or sidestep a hurdle you see coming!
